The Highlight of The Dance Gallery
Year! At the end of each year we
hold our annual concert showcase – “Rhythm
in Tap”. Every dancer from
the studio is invited to participate
in this magic night. Our concert
starts at the family friendly time
of 6:00pm and generally runs for
about 2-2 ½ hours. Our tickets
are reasonably priced.
Does your studio have Performance
Troupes?
Uniquely, our Performance Troupe
is open to ALL dancers. It is NOT
selective or by audition only. The
Dance Gallery is able to do this
because with our quality teaching
we find all our students are able
to perform to a high standard. This
negates the need for auditions or ‘special
selection’. Everyone is included
in our Dance Studio and we work in
an atmosphere of mutual support and
friendship.
When dancers elect to be part of
our Dance Gallery Performance Troupe,
they give their commitment to be
part of a team, must commit to attend
all rehearsals and performances.
Dedication is the most important
part of being a member of Performance
Troupe.
Our Performance Troupe has incredible
opportunities. Some of our performances
include dancing at Newcastle Knights
Games and Mattara.
If
you’re dancing with another
studio, you’re more than welcome
to come along and join us for our
Performance Troupe. Just give us
a call to find our more!
What costs are involved?
At The Dance Gallery we are very
conscious of the different costs
involved with kids participating
in dance and other activities. We
always aim always to keep our dancing
fees and costs as affordable as possible.
When special performance opportunities
arise, parents are advised in advance
of any additional costs involved
so families can plan ahead.
We also offer a range of fee discounts
including term discounts, family
discounts and full course discounts.
Please contact us to find out what
discounts you’re eligible for.
Are fees paid by the term or can
we pay by the week?
The Dance Gallery offers great discounts
for term payments. When paying by
the term we can offer discounted
lesson fees, reduced prices for families
with 2 or more children dancing,
and special rates for dancers choosing
to participate in our full course
options.
However we understand that not all
families are able to pay by the term.
The
Dance Gallery is one of only a
hand full of Dance Studios still
offering the option of “Pay-By-The-Week” for
lesson fee payments. The Dance Gallery
has been able to maintain this option
because of the excellent relationship
we have with our families and the
understanding we all share regarding
paying by the week. Our studio is
able to sustain this option because
our families recognise once a student
is enrolled in a class, that all
lessons missed must be paid for.
If your dancer misses a lesson they
are more than welcome to make up
that lesson in another parallel class
that week.
Do you offer exams?
We have exams options for all our
Tap Dancers. Dancers can choose to
sit for L.G.T.D.A. Tap exams, which
are usually held in the mid year.
This is completely optional.
What is your uniform?
The Dance Gallery understands that
with dance shoes, lessons and uniforms
dancing can become pricey. That’s
why we keep our uniform simple.
We ask our dancers to wear basic
black dance attire. A plain sleeveless
black leotard with either long or
short black dance pants over the
top is our basic class uniform. These
can be purchased affordably at places
like Target, Big W or Best and Less,
as well as Dancewear shops.
To complete our uniform our dancers
buy one of our easy wearing Studio
T-Shirts. They look great!
Our dancers wear camel coloured
Tap shoes and black jazz shoes.
For ballet our dancers wear a black
leotard with a black chiffon ballet
skirt, pink ballet stockings and
pink ballet shoes.
For all classes dancers are expected
to wear hair neatly pulled back off
the face, preferably in a bun.
Our boys wear black
pants or shorts and black studio
t-shirt (studio t-shirt can be ordered
through the studio upon enrolling)
What
is your lesson format?
At The Dance Gallery our classes
are structured and well formatted
without being strict or over powering.
All classes generally run on the
same basic format: welcome and warm
up, technique practice and teaching,
choreography session for routines,
warm down, rewards and farewell.
What about concert costumes?
At The Dance Gallery we have a dedicated
Concert Costume Co-ordinator who
personally looks after the costuming
needs for your dancer. For our concert
we utilise a mix of costume hiring,
purchasing and making to help make
things simple for our parents and
to keep costs down. Usually our dressmakers
and costume co-ordinator take measurements
or have fittings at the studio. To
help plan for costs parents know
in advance how many dances their
child will be performing in the concert
to help plan for costs. Our concert
costume costs are amongst the lowest
in the region.
Can parents watch classes?
Parents are always welcome to come
and watch the last five minutes of
their child’s class. We have
found through the years that children
love being able to show their latest
dance accomplishments to parents
at the end of each class.
At our studio parents are asked not
to stay and watch our full lessons
in progress. We ask this as a parent
or friend is unfamiliar to all but
one dancer. As you can imagine this
can be very distracting and maybe
intimidating for other dancers, especially
beginners and tiny tots.
Can a potential student watch a class
before enrolling?
There’s nothing like getting
up and dancing! At The Dance Gallery
we invite our potential new dancers
to come along and actually join in
a class. Once a new child is moving
and shaking with the others dancers,
they get a much better idea of what
the class feels like and what it’s
like to be part of. Call us to see
what classes your dancer can try
out!
Does every child receive a trophy?
The Dance Gallery believes that all
dancers who participate in our concert
deserve to be recognised for their
effort, dedication and enthusiasm.
All concert dancers receive a trophy
to celebrate their achievement at
our end of year party.
Do you have Special Awards?
The Dance Gallery recognises and
celebrates special and outstanding
efforts by particular students. Awards
are not reserved for the most talented
dancers, but for dancers for who
show outstanding attitude and application.
These special awards are announced
with pride at our yearly concert
